Falls, district take steps to exchange properties
Storage, new fire station possible uses by schools, village
Menomonee Falls - The Menomonee Falls Village Board took the first step in a land swap with the school district that would include building exchanges and lease agreements.
On Monday, the board unanimously approved a change in land use from park classification to institutional for the land and building on McArthur Drive behind the library..
The village's space on McArthur used to be where the Parks Department had offices as well as storage space, although recently, the building has been used solely for village storage. The practical use of the building won't change significantly when the school district takes it over as maintenance crews will use it for storage as well.
As part of the swap, the village will get the Sunnyside property on the corner of Menomonee Avenue and Main Street. Village officials said that site was a potential future location for a new fire station.
Part of the project also includes leases to Trenary Field, something agreed upon as part of the Trenary complex renovations several years ago. The official swap and lease agreements are expected to be finished in February.
