Milwaukee Public Television aired a program called Conservative Talk Radio –
There is strong opinion, pro and con, regarding talk radio but there is also a lot of misunderstanding regarding the role it plays in society, media, and our daily lives.
Whatever your stance, this documentary is worth viewing. It is as balanced as anything I have seen regarding a controversial subject. Pro and con are given equal time and treated with equal respect regarding their positions.
There were few surprises regarding the interviews of Charlie Sykes-WTMJ, Bruce Murphy-Milwaukee Magazine, Eugene Kane- Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel with the exception of Tim Cuprisin, formerly of the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel and recently deceased. Based on what Mr. Cuprisin wrote in the paper, it appeared to me he did not understand Talk Radio at any level, local or national. In
Talk Radio is very important in our society. It provides alternative opinions and insights into topics that impact everyone. This in turn holds major media more accountable to provide news and analysis to a wider audience and demographic then they are currently serving.
There are those in the public who benefit by hearing a different opinion, while others mindlessly parrot sound bites. There are also many who hate Talk Radio and have admitted they never have listened to a single second.
Talk Radio has made a big impact in the Falls. This community gets a lot of attention (not all of it good, of course) Overall the impact was positive in my opinion.
